DJ Analysts See U.S. Natural Gas Inventories Up 108-Billion Cubic Feet
By Nicole Friedman
Analysts and traders expect government data scheduled for release on Thursday to show natural gas inventories rose
by more than usual for this time of year.
The U.S. Energy Information Administration is expected to report that 108 billion cubic feet of gas were added to
storage during the week ended Oct. 3, according to the average forecast of 18 analysts and traders surveyed by The Wall
Street Journal.
The EIA is scheduled to release storage data for the week on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. EDT.
For the Oct. 3 week, the median estimate is for a rise of 108 bcf. Estimates range from an increase of 95 bcf to a
rise of 118 bcf. The estimate is above last year's 91-bcf build in storage for the same week, and more than the 84-bcf
five-year average build for that week.
If the storage estimate is correct, inventories as of Oct. 3 will total 3.208 trillion cubic feet, 10% below a
year-ago and 10% below the five-year average for the same week.
