DJ Analysts Expect 38-Billion-Cubic-Feet Rise in U.S. Natural Gas Inventories
By Nicole Friedman
Analysts and traders expect government data scheduled for release Thursday to show natural gas inventories rose by
more than typical levels for this time of year.
The U.S. Energy Information Administration is expected to report that 38 billion cubic feet of gas were added to
storage during the week ended Nov. 7, according to the average forecast of 15 analysts and traders surveyed by The Wall
Street Journal.
The EIA is scheduled to release its storage data for the week on Friday at 10:30 a.m. EST.
For the Nov. 7 week, the median estimate is for a rise of 38 bcf. Estimates ranged from an increase of 25 bcf to a
rise of 46 bcf.
The estimate for Nov. 7 is above last year's 22-bcf build in storage for the same week, and more than the 16-bcf
five-year average build for that week.
If the storage estimate is correct, inventories as of Nov. 7 will total 3.609 trillion cubic feet, 5.8% below the
year-ago level and 6.2% below the five-year average for the same week.
