Friday's Commitment of Trader's report showed the fund long position as of last Tuesday's close increased by 4,214 to 145,585 contracts.
The funds were long over 488,000 contracts when the market topped last February and are expected to be a strong presence this upcoming winter.
The current long position is considered bullish as the funds have plenty of room to add to existing positions as market conditions warrant.
