Dow Jones Natural Gas - Analysts' Estimates For Tomorrow's EIA Weekly Storage Report

DJ Analysts Expect 45 Bcf Drop in U.S. Natural Gas Inventories

  By Timothy Puko

Analysts and traders expect U.S. natural gas stockpiles shrank last week at less than half their average rate of
decline for this time of year.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration is expected to report Thursday that storage levels fell by 45 billion
cubic feet of gas during the week ended Dec. 5, according to the average forecast of 15 analysts and traders surveyed
by The Wall Street Journal.

The median estimate in the survey is for a drop of 44 bcf. Estimates range from a decline of 39 bcf to a decline of
50 bcf.

The estimate for the week of Dec. 5 is less than the 92 bcf drained from storage for the same week last year and the
72-bcf five-year average drain for that week.

If the storage estimate is correct, inventories as of Dec. 5 totaled 3.4 trillion cubic feet, 5.1% below levels from
a year ago and 9.3% below the five-year average for the same week.

The EIA is scheduled to release its weekly storage data at 10:30 a.m. EST Thursday.
