DJ Analysts See Increase in Natural-Gas Inventories
Natural-gas stockpiles are expected to rise by 87 billion cubic feet for the week ended Oct. 16 in data due to be
released Thursday by the U.S. Energy Information Administration, according analyst estimates.
The estimate, from a survey of 10 analysts by The Wall Street Journal, would be about in line for additions to
inventory at this time of year. That compares with 107 bcf added to storage for the same week last year and the 86-bcf
average addition for that week.
For the week of Oct. 16, the median estimate is for an addition of 88 billion cubic feet. Estimates range from an
addition of 82 bcf to an increase of 94 bcf.
If the storage estimate is correct, inventories as of Oct. 16 will have exceeded 3.8 trillion cubic feet, 12.6%
higher than year-ago levels and 4.6% higher than average for this time of year.
The EIA is scheduled to release the storage data at 10:30 a.m. EDT on Thursday.
