DJ Analysts See 94-Billion-Cubic-Feet Rise in U.S. Natural Gas Inventories
By Nicole Friedman
Analysts and traders expect government data scheduled for release Thursday to show natural gas inventories rose by
more than typical levels for this time of year.
The U.S. Energy Information Administration is expected to report that 94 billion cubic feet of gas were added to
storage during the week ended Oct. 9, according to the average forecast of 18 analysts and traders surveyed by The Wall
Street Journal.
The EIA is scheduled to release its storage data for the week on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. EDT.
For the Oct. 9 week, the median estimate is for a rise of 91 bcf. Estimates range from an increase of 89 bcf to a
rise of 106 bcf.
The estimate for Oct. 9 is below last year's 96-bcf build in storage for the same week, and more than the 87-bcf
five-year average build for that week.
If the storage estimate is correct, inventories as of Oct. 9 will total 3.727 trillion cubic feet, 13.4% above the
year-ago level and 4.5% above the five-year average for the same week.
