DJ Natural Gas Falls on Demand Concerns
By Nicole Friedman
NEW YORK--Natural-gas prices fell Wednesday on continued concerns about demand.
Futures for March delivery recently fell 1.0 cent, or 0.5%, to $2.015 a million British thermal units on the New York
Mercantile Exchange.
Natural gas prices have dropped steeply this week. Demand for the natural gas as an indoor-heating fuel has been
subdued due to moderate weather across much of the U.S., and inventories of the fuel are above average levels. Weather
forecasts call for continued above-normal temperatures in the coming weeks.
"The overnight change in weather forecasts was bearish again for the fourth consecutive day," said RBN Energy in a
note. "Temperatures are called to be slightly above normal for all days in the current 15-day forecast."
Physical gas for next-day delivery at the Henry Hub in Louisiana last traded at $2.05/mmBtu, compared with Tuesday's
range of $2 to $2.055. Cash prices at the Transco Z6 hub in New York last traded between $1.90 and $1.95/mmBtu,
compared with Tuesday's range of $1.55 to $1.65.
