DJ Analysts See 56 Billion-Cubic-Foot Rise in U.S. Natural-Gas Inventories
By Nicole Friedman
Analysts expect U.S. government data scheduled for release on Thursday to show natural-gas inventories last week rose
by less than average for this time of year.
The U.S. Energy Information Administration is expected to report storage levels rose by 56 billion cubic feet of gas
during the week ended July 8, according to the average forecast of 17 analysts, brokers and traders surveyed by The
Wall Street Journal.
The EIA is scheduled to release its storage data for the week on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. EDT.
For the July 8 week, the median estimate of the analysts surveyed was for an increase of 57 bcf. Estimates range from
a build of 41 bcf to a gain of 66 bcf.
The estimate for July 8 compares to 95 bcf added to storage for the same week last year and a five-year average build
of 77 bcf for that week.
If the storage estimate is correct, inventories as of July 8 totaled 3.235 trillion cubic feet, 18% above levels from
a year ago and 22% above the five-year average for the same week.
