DJ BNP Warns Natural-Gas Rebound May Fade -- Market Talk
12:58 ET - Updated weather forecasts signal the recent run-up in natural-gas prices "might prove short-lived," says
BNP Paribas. A signature El Nino pattern is re-emerging, which could bring back warm temperatures to the East by
month's end, it notes. Futures bounced more than 20% in 7 sessions, technically meaning a bull market, amid the arrival
of cold temperatures. But today's weather updates show that giving way to unseasonable warmth by week's end and
close-to-normal temperatures covering the entire US two weeks out. Without extreme cold, natural-gas stockpiles could
end the winter at or near record highs, perpetuating a glut, analysts say. Nymex February futures are down 2.7% at
$2.27/MMBtu. (tim.puko@wsj.com)
